Formula for a Stunning 2021 Kitchen

Updated: Aug 23, 2021

Wood is back in kitchens, but unfortunately that doesn't mean that all our 1990's golden oak or 2000's cherry cabinets are back in style. Modern wood cabinets have a natural finish that looks raw, rustic and Scandinavian. Ornate profiles and trim are out; straight-lined inset cabinets with a simple Shaker or flat profile are in. The straight lines of the cabinets are juxtaposed with circular elements -- curved faucets, spherical light fixtures, rounded bar stools. Black and white (and variations of those) are the dominant color scheme. Ceiling treatments and big windows are a bonus. Here is some beautiful eye candy to illustrate the formula.

Here's another picture since this kitchen (and the whole house) is so freaking beautiful.

Chris Loves Julia nailed the formula for their friends the Fullmers. Where can I find some friends who will do this to my kitchen?

Did Lauren Liess invent this formula? She's been doing it for awhile. Note the curvy cabinet pulls.
